Contacting your Funeral Director
Making funeral arrangements can be a very stressful time for families.
Often the person who is close to death knows what they would like for their funeral service and passing this information to the funeral director not only eases their mind, but also reduces the stress still to come on their family. The earlier the arrangements can be made, the easier it will be for everyone.
If the family cannot contact the funeral director until after death occurs, the funeral director will make a time to meet to make the arrangements.

Personal and family details required:
To register the death, the NSW State Government requires that certain information to be provided so they can complete their records and issue a Death Certificate. The information they require includes:
- Full name, date and place of birth
- Usual residential address
- Occupation, pension details,
- Marriage details: current status, date, location, age, maiden name
- Children details: name, date of birth
- Parents names
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait descendant details
- Duration of residency if born overseas

- Choice of burial or cremation
- Venue for the funeral service
- Who is to lead the funeral service
- Is there to be a viewing
- Choice of casket style
- Choice of flowers - colours, type of flowers, style of arrangements
- Donations in place of flowers
- Who will carry the casket
- Music selection and when it will be played
- Who will be reading a eulogy
- Papers, clubs, etc for notices
- Membership details of clubs
- Special requests to personalise the service
