Preparing for a Eulogy
The eulogy represents a summary of your loved one's life and achievements, and the gathering together of your collective memories which give meaning to your relationship with that person. Memories are that part of your relationship which endures the separation and loss inherent in death.
The eulogy is the story of an individual but it is also part of your family story that will be retold down through the generations. It should be told in a way that celebrates your loved one's life in the context of your collective memories and family history.
The eulogy is also the story of an individual who has lived within the context of a community of family and friends. Your loved one will remain a part of the history and memories of those within the community to whom your loved one was special.
As a helpful guide the following may be of assistance in preparing a eulogy. The eulogy should be of 5-8 minutes duration.
