Personalising a Funeral Service

The funeral service you have should be as special as the life you will be remembering.

Here are a few ideas:
  • Have more than one or two people deliver the eulogy, sharing different memories and aspects of their relationship
  • Create a personalised program for the funeral service: include photos, poems, anecdotes....
  • Include children in the delivery of the funeral service: Speaking, reading, singing, playing....
  • Meet and greet people attending the funeral service as they arrive for the service
  • Create a funeral service that captures their personality. If they where 'out there' - don't be afraid to use 'out there' colours/music/humour. If they were very 'affectionate' have everyone stand up and hug the person next to them during the service.
  • Create a guest book for people to write down a memory of their own
  • Display personal items from their hobbies and interests
  • Create an 'audio visual' presentation
  • Choose clothing that reflects their life, interests and passions
  • Ask children to write a letter or draw a picture and have them place it on or in the coffin
  • Select meaningful flowers - a simple arrangement maybe just perfect
  • Choose the right location for the funeral service
  • Display a photoghraphic collage
